Warranty Information
Modus 5 LLC
Effective Date: September 1st, 2026
Last Updated: September 1st, 2026
All products sold by Modus 5 are covered by a limited manufacturer warranty. This page explains how those warranties work, what they usually cover, and how we help you when something goes wrong. It is part of our Terms of Use and should be read together with our Returns & Refunds Policy.
1. Limited Manufacturer Warranty
Every hardware product we sell, including POS terminals, printers, scanners, scales, cash drawers, customer displays, kitchen displays, and payment terminals, comes with a limited warranty from its manufacturer. Likewise, software is covered by the licensor's own license and warranty terms.
The manufacturer, not Modus 5, sets the length, coverage, and conditions of each warranty and decides every warranty claim. Warranty periods differ from brand to brand and, in some cases, from model to model. Therefore, please check the documentation included with your product or the manufacturer's website for the exact terms that apply.
2. Modus 5's Role
Modus 5 is an authorized reseller and integrator. As a result, we do not issue our own separate warranty on the products we sell, and we do not extend or change manufacturer warranties. However, we do not leave you on your own. When you have a problem, we will:
- troubleshoot the issue with you by phone or remote session to confirm whether it is a hardware defect;
- help you open a warranty claim with the manufacturer and gather the information it needs; and
- where possible, help you arrange a loaner or replacement to keep your business running while the claim is processed.
Customers with an active support plan may receive additional help, such as on-site service, as described in their plan.
3. Defective on Arrival (DOA)
If a product arrives defective or stops working within the first 14 days after delivery, contact us first rather than the manufacturer. In that case, Modus 5 will repair or replace it directly, as described in our Returns & Refunds Policy. After the DOA period ends, warranty service is handled by the manufacturer.
4. What Manufacturer Warranties Usually Cover
Although terms vary, manufacturer warranties generally cover defects in materials and workmanship under normal use during the warranty period. Depending on the manufacturer, the remedy may be repair, replacement with a new or refurbished unit, or, in some cases, a refund.
5. What Manufacturer Warranties Usually Do Not Cover
In most cases, warranties do not cover:
- physical damage, drops, cracked screens, or broken connectors;
- liquid spills, grease, extreme heat, or other environmental damage;
- damage from power surges, lightning, or improper electrical service;
- normal wear items, such as printer heads, cutters, batteries, and cables, unless the manufacturer states otherwise;
- consumable supplies, such as paper, labels, and ribbons;
- damage caused by unauthorized repairs, modifications, or use of non-approved parts or supplies;
- problems caused by third-party software, viruses, or network issues; and
- products with removed or altered serial numbers.
For this reason, we recommend using a surge protector or battery backup with all POS equipment.
6. Payment Terminals, Leased Equipment, and Services
Payment terminals provided as part of a merchant processing agreement, as well as leased or financed equipment, may also be covered by the terms of that agreement or lease. If so, those terms apply in addition to the manufacturer warranty. Similarly, installation, programming, training, and support services are governed by your sales order or support plan, not by a product warranty.
7. How to Get Warranty Service
First, contact our support team at admin@modus5.com or 718-838-0884. Please have the following ready:
- your business name and order or invoice number;
- the product's brand, model, and serial number; and
- a description of the problem, including any error messages.
Next, we will troubleshoot the issue with you. If the product needs warranty service, we will then guide you through the manufacturer's claim process or submit the claim on your behalf where the manufacturer allows it. Please keep your invoice, since most manufacturers require proof of purchase.
8. Limitation of Warranties
Except for the limited manufacturer warranties described on this page and any warranty stated in a signed agreement with Modus 5, products are sold without any other warranty from Modus 5, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing on this page limits any rights you have under applicable law that cannot be waived.
